Perhaps Mark Knopfler said it best: “That ain’t workin’
that’s the way to do it / play your guitar on the MTV.”
At least that’s the way Evan Statton felt in October
2002 when he founded Pick an Exit. Eager to build
upon the successful establishment of Rock and/or Roll
as a musical genre, Evan labored to assemble a band
worthy of the rock mantle. In early 2003, Statton
teamed with Dave Napiorski (drums/lyrics) and
released the band’s first EP, “John Cusack Used to Be
My Hero,” meeting with limited local success.

MONTH BEFORE MAY
Central, NJ
Date(s) on the tour: coming soon
Month Before May, hailing from Clark, New Jersey, is quickly gaining recognition as a new powerpop sound. After beginning as a solo acoustic project the music has now evolved into a four-piece live band. Songwriter April Baton (17) presents a "fresh" "radio-playable" sound and cites influences from pop to classical music and everything in between. As the lead singer/ rhythm guitarist, she has a knack for catching an audience's attention. Before long bassist Kyle Baton (14), April's brother, merged into the act. He has since been able to add the pulse necessary to drive the music's rock edge. Drummer Drew DiGiovanni (14) joined the band from a long time friendship with Kyle. He is the driving energy behind the group's live performance. Drumming has always been a passion of his and he is excited to take it to the next level. Keyboardist/ lead guitarist Mike Romano (14) was musically inspired by his father and the grunge band Nirvana. As a new arrival, he impressively connects with the rest of the band and is well rounded on multiple instruments.

A VOICE LIKE RHETORIC
Pittsburgh, PA
Date(s) on the tour: coming soon
What happens when listenability meets originality, and a band creates for the sake of intelligent expression? A Voice Like Rhetoric, four gentlemen inhabiting North Western Pennsylvania, has dug deep and found their niche in a sub-generalized genre of a music scene. They have been described as technical/ post hardcore/ math rock. With such influences as; At the Drive-In, Botch, Cursive, Faraquet, Minus the Bear, and Q and Not U, A Voice Like Rhetoric has started to open both ears and eyes among onlookers. After independently releasing their debut EP, "Why Wicked Words Slip," in 2004, A Voice Like Rhetoric began booking heavily in surrounding regions. They quickly cemented ties in those towns, as well as in cities across the eastern seaboard. Since then, they have independently booked numerous tours, and have begun building communities wherever their audio and visual stimuli are observed. Recently, A Voice Like Rhetoric has released a 7" vinyl split with the help of A Time And A Place Records, and was featured on a sampler cd which was heavily distributed at the 2006 Vans Warped Tour. Their highly anticipated full length debut, Ethos, now marks an unprecedented new outlook of writing music for A Voice Like Rhetoric.
